We just finished our 2014-15 LINCS Grant Performance Report for Region 4 (RPDC4) for submission to the US Department of Education. We had another successful year meeting and exceeding our goals!
Here are some highlights:
Goal #1: Involve eligible agencies as partners in Region 4, at least one per state, in order to assist in the implementation of the project; ensure access to virtual or in-person Adult Education Professional Development (AEPD); and ensure efficient use of resources.
• 100% of states in our region participated in at least one component of partnership. Staff provided state staff, project directors, and professional developers to assist with LINCS and Office of Career and Technical Adult Education (OCTAE) information dissemination.
• Added 33 partner agencies, which collaborated on trainings.
• New partnerships built and existing partnerships/collaborations maintained at regional and state level, especially with new State Adult Ed Directors.
Goal #2. Provide adult educators with high-quality AEPD offered by RPDC4 this year.
• To date, provided 27 F2F trainings and two Study Circle online trainings in Alphabetics and Fluency.
• 874 adult educators participated in AEPD.
• 6366 hours of AEPD were completed by adult educators.
• 90% of adult educators participating in the RPDC4’s AEPD responded to evaluation data requests.
• 88% of evaluations submitted rated all trainings either 4 or 5 (top scores) in quality/satisfaction/usefulness.
Goal #3. Milestones.
• Implemented three Adult Numeracy Institutes in Washington and Idaho.
• Presented 13 LINCS workshops at the Commission on Adult Basic Education Annual Conference in Denver.
• Created webinars for Tutor Ready: Resources for Tutoring Adults in Reading.
Drawn from the research-based LINCS Teaching Adults to Read online courses and workshops, these webinars focus on topics relevant to adult literacy tutoring.
• Over 514 instructors completed online Reading Components modules and Assessment Strategies and Reading Profiles modules that provided professional development training.
• Facilitated two Teaching Adults to Read Study Circle series (Alphabetics and Fluency) on applying research to instructional practice with 26 active instructors.
• Conducted a very successful Region 4 LINCS RPDC Partner Meeting with ten partner states attending. Because of this meeting, our partners are better informed about the upcoming Workforce Investment Opportunity Act legislation, the current OCTAE initiatives, LINCS AEPD offerings, and other state initiatives. They received guidance in how to use upcoming data and research for strategic program and professional development planning, and participated in an analysis of the present and future prospects for Adult Basic Education across the country. These activities provided an informed basis for states’ representatives to project program and professional development goals and needs, which will help LINCS proactively prepare to support them.
