…we want to improve ourselves from where we are.
Maybe it is just some fine tuning. Expanding on good habits and patterns in our life that are already well established. Positive patterns. Productive patterns.
Maybe it is bigger change we hope for.
Maybe it is bigger change we’d like to enact.
Do we have any “bad habits” we’d like to eliminate? Do we have some negative patterns we’d like to modify or terminate?
I believe it is inherent in our human nature to aspire to “be better.”
How do we take our hopes and intentions and forge those more positive patterns?
Experts say negative patterns can be changed and positive ones built into our lives with 30-45 days of focused effort. Let’s pick a few places we want to start with such improvements. Let’s not tackle everything we want to change all at once.
What are these changes you hope for? The year is still fresh. Let’s harness the energy of the new year-- as the days are getting longer, with more light in our lives. Let’s take the sense of fresh starts and new opportunities of January and make them a spring board for action.
The first step is taking from our general awareness a special focus. It helps to write down those changes we’d like to tackle first. Prioritize. Focus. 2006--Where do we want to start?
As to our health---are we eating in ways we know are good for us? Are we watching portion sizes and third helpings? Taking in enough fruits and vegetables? Drinking enough water? Drinking too much alcohol? Are we binging on snack and dessert items at certain times of the day or week?
As to our health --- are we satisfied with where we are with our weight? What kind of shape are we in and where do we want to be? Are we getting enough exercise and movement to burn off the calories we’re consuming --or enough to change our weight and shape? Do we have some injuries we’re trying to repair, rebuilding strength and flexibility –and if so, what are we doing about it?
Write it down. How do we improve ourselves?
